Selling professional wedding albums can be a mystery, a pain point, or it can make albums as easy as 1, 2, 3!

While Zookbinders has always produced premium wedding albums, over the years we have added services that help with workflow and profitability. With our Suite of Album Services, photographers can offer professional albums to clients almost effortlessly.

 

Defining your Category

Photographers who offer wedding albums to their clients often fall into three categories.

#1 – The Newbies

Those who are new to selling professional albums, or interested in starting to offer albums to their clients. Helping couples select images for a wedding album, designing the album, and printing can seem overwhelming. It can be challenging to know just where to start. This uncertainty may be a deterrent to providing professional albums to couples.

 

#2 – The Seasoned Pros Struggling with Workflow

The seasoned photographers who offer high-quality professional wedding albums to their clients, but find the process frustrating. Often, the back-and-forth between image selection and album design turns into something that should be a meeting rather than an email thread. These photographers pride themselves on offering premium wedding albums but struggle with long turnaround times, workflow, backlogs, and slow processes.

 

#3 – Masters of the (Time Management) Universe

The masters of time management. Photographers who have an excellent workflow in place that maximizes the time spent working on their business, rather than in it. These folks have outsourced portions of their job responsibilities in order to expedite orders, keep clients happy and ultimately bring in more income as a result.

Easy as One, Two, Three

One: Selection

Deciding what images belong in a wedding album is tedious. Selecting the images ahead of time gives clients a HUGE head start! This is the first step in making Albums as Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Picking a few favorite images from a sea of hundreds can seem impossible. Selection helps the client narrow down the best images for their wedding album.

 

Selection helps the client choose images for their album. Photographers create a Selection Order and submit all the images from the event. In the Selection Order, the photographer will indicate how many images should be in the album.

The Zookbinders team chooses the best images for the album based on the set number of images. We also create a personalized website showing a gallery of selected images for the album, and a gallery of all the images. Here’s an example: Kate & David

Photographers’ clients review the selection website and can easily swap images in and out of the album gallery. They can also add images to the album at a price determined by the photographer. This little gem of an upsell tool can make an average of $100 extra per album order and makes an easier workflow all around.

Once the selection is approved the order can move into design.

(Note: Before the design order is started, photographers have an opportunity to download the images. The photographer can also download just a list of images, and then submit retouched images later for design.)

 

Two: Design

Designing a wedding album could mean hours in front of a computer. Not anymore!

Once your selected images are ready it’s very easy to move the Selection Order into a Design Order. Zookbinders offers three popular design styles. When placing an order for design there are plenty of opportunities to give guidance and preferences about the design.

For the album layout, we calculate the number of spreads, the left and right side of an album, based on the number of images in the album. We average 4.5 images per spread. Example: an album with 45 images will be laid out in 10 spreads (20 sides).

When a design order is started, the photographer will input the album type, size, and cover. Fear not, these decisions are not set in stone; details can be updated when the design is approved.

Whether you don’t like designing albums or don’t like sitting in from of your computer for hours, our albums design service solves many pain points!

 

Designs take 7-10 business days. An email is sent to say the design is ready for review and approval. A link is available for you to send to your client to review. Notes can be entered directly into the order for revisions if needed. Revisions are completed in 3 to 5 days.

Once the design is approved and the details are finalized, the album goes into production.

Three: Album Print & Bind

Here’s the easy part: there’s nothing more for you to do except push a button or two and place the order.

Within 7 to 10 business days, (3-4 weeks for the Bon a Vie,) your order will ship from Zookbinders to your studio or to your client. Albums that are shipped directly to your client are sent without invoicing or price information.
