Suspension of Matte Laminate for PhotoBooks & Photo Book Plus

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Due to intermittent quality problems with the matte laminate, Zookbinders has temporarily suspended production of the matte laminate for all PhotoBooks and Photo Book Plus effective immediately. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and are working hard to complete all orders with our Gloss finish.

The problem is that the matte laminate would occasionally “bubble” at the crease and sometimes on the covers. Our quality team has declared this unacceptable, thus prompting the change. Zookbinders is a vendor that is known for producing quality products, and when we’re no longer able to meet your and our high standards due to a process or material problem, we will suspend production until we can find a resolution. Although we’re confident that we’ve been able to reject unsuitable products before shipping, in the event that you or your client is not 100% satisfied with a product we produced with the matte laminate, rest assured that we will replace it free of charge with the gloss laminate.

Obviously, being in the holiday production season, the timing of this situation is not ideal. By now all clients requesting matte finish have received a call explaining the situation and offering to print the book with gloss laminate in time for holiday delivery. We are working to find a new alternative and are testing several options that will hopefully perform better. These tests do take time but rest assured we are working hard and will let all of our loyal customers know as soon as we find a new finish for our PhotoBooks.

We thank you for your patience and continued partnership with our company. If you have any orders in-house and have not yet been contacted by a Customer Service Representative, please call us at (800) 810-5745. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am–4:30 pm CST. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but quality within the products is our number one concern. Please note that the gloss finish is not having these same issues.
